Five Square Meal Plan

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting with a dear friend of mine who is giving me guidance and holding me accountable to my future.  He desired to express to me that I needed to submerge myself into scripture, not just read, but to memorize and store so I could constantly meditate on that scripture each minute of each day.  Scripture has power to not only help us understand, but it changes our entire soul.

This world is but a fleeting glimpse of a world that is yet to come.  Here there is no perfection, just a fallen place that desperately needs to be saved and redeemed.  Starting each day I need to shower myself in God’s word, not once, not twice, but several times a day.  Each time working on memorizing another section, and by the end have multiple chapters completely memorized and totally meditated and dissolved, so those words become part of me.

Five square meals is where I’m going to start,   I’m intentionally going to wake up each day and devote an hour to reading and meditation, after that I’m going to journal my perspective and insights, brief, nothing detailed.   Then three other times for 15-20 minutes each I’m going to test myself on the passage I memorized,  each time making sure each word is correct, and meditate on that passage.   In the evening, I’m going to spend another amount of time again focusing on that passage.   After this I will journal about my day, my emotions, but most of all I will ask the question: Where did God use this scripture to fix me, to mold me into his shape.  I’m not doing this to ‘fix’ anyone except me!

Conforming to God’s image means a lot of things, and I hope we can get into those in future blogs.
