“For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. “
Matthew 5:18
Here Jesus is talking about the whole written law, even the punctuation and breathing marks. God wrote His law, as an expression of His holy nature. If we desire to know God, we must read the law, and know we have broken each and every command at least once. Jesus didn’t come to get rid of the law and overthrow God’s holy nature, but he came to fulfill the law and the prophets.
How perfect is God’s plan of redemption that He wrote the law, knowing that I wouldn’t be perfect, yet from the foundation of the earth He Saved me. He knew that He (Jesus) would have to pay the price of my sins, in a horrible death, because that’s how serious God’s law is. Today we have such a cavalier attitude towards the law, but we should keep the law on our hearts, and when the Holy spirit convicts us of the sin, we should repent.
I know, that my heart has become callus from the world. An example is how it tempts us to break God’s Law in the grey areas saying “Saying OMG isn’t a sin, that isn’t even God’s real name!”, and there might be some truth to that, but should I even allow it in my speech? By no means! It’s the total intention of the law, God deserves Honor and Glory, and by using His name as a exploitive or swearing by it, doesn’t make anything better.
God’s nature is perfect, His holiness is perfect, and His law is perfect. I need to abide in Him, His law, and should meditate on in day and night. As I hide each of these verses in my heart, I see God’s bigger picture, I am convicted of Sin in my life, and I seek His righteousness. A huge part of repentance, is turning away from the sin that ensnares me, and turning towards God’s righteous ways. I was never perfect, and I won’t be perfect here on earth, but I am learning to walk step by step in God’s righteous ways through sanctification, but one day I will be perfected.
