Getting A Kick in the Face

Sometimes it’s necessary for the Holy spirit to get our attention, and maybe today I realized how far I drifted from where he wants me. I’m really tied up in concern for our nation, our government, our country. I see all this stuff happening in the news, and I don’t think it’s fair, it’s not right. But I feel in anguished that, I’m not doing enough, or worse, I personally feel responsible for the way things are going. I know this is not rational.

This is because I’ve been sucked into the fray, the world has caught me. Of course this world isn’t fair, If I thought it was fair, I was deceiving myself. Today I realized I’ve been expending way too much energy on what is wrong with the world, I’ve been kicked in the face, but now I need to get up, and do what is good for me. The election is over, My hopes have been dashed, but that’s no the end of the world.

Now it’s time I focus on the important things, the things God has given me. So what are those things?

  • First of All, God has given us Himself, Jesus Christ God in flesh paid the price for my sins, I am now righteous in His sight, I am no longer of this world, but I am in the world and not of the world. I have no fear of what’s to come, because Jesus made a way for me to live with Him eternally. I could stop here, but there is so much more…
  • God has given us His Word in the form of the Bible. I need to study that book with all my strength, all my time, all my ability. I need to know it, by reading it and by memorizing it. I need to be able to understand it and be able to apply those principles to my life.
  • God has given us Communication through Prayer. I have a direct line to The Maker of All Things! If I have a problem, I don’t need to call my congressman or senator. I don’t need to tweet. I can talk to Him about anything, and He knows my needs even if I can’t express them.
  • God has given us The Holy Spirit. A counselor like no other, the Holy Spirit dwells with us, and it comforts us, and it has the ability to guide us. God dwells with us!
  • God has given us The Local Body, The Church! This is so important, God has given us other believers to fellowship, to serve and be served, to disciple and be discipled by. The local believers are our co-workers in the world.
  • God has given us a Mission. The Great Commission is to make disciples of all nations. Am I doing that today?

I have so much more peace, I have a purpose and now I have a direction. I hope you can also find that direction. If you would like to talk or you feel you have a need to be in Christ, feel free to email me, or contact me on social media.
