The last few weeks, I took off my blog writing for a few reason. First reason, I took a class on hermeneutics or the theory and method of scriptural interpretation. This is something that devoted a large chunk of my free time, and I had to take a break from the blog. I’ve taken classes on hermeneutics before, but this one gave me a new perspective and helped me foster a discipline in spending more time on observation before jumping into assumptions on interpretation.
Another small reason, was my Google account had been reset, and with it my phone and everything, which was a real downer. This website uses two factor authentication, which also prevented me from accessing it for a few weeks. All my accounts have been restored.
This is the last week of my class, so I have a final paper due on Wednesday, which is taking the majority of my time, but after that I plan to continue where I left off in Matthew 6. I’ll probably write up a review of Matthew 5 and 6 to refresh the memory cells. Knowing scripture on multiple dimensions, that’s memorizing, observing, interpreting, applying is much like our food where we taste, we consume, we digest, we absorb the nutrients into our body.
Memorized scripture serves me in so many ways, am building my mind to completely trust in the Lord and his Word, which is much more powerful than anything on earth. I consume his word, breaking it down, understanding the authors intent, building the context the author intended, and then placing my faith on the words of God, knowing I’ve done my due diligence as a student to understand The Master.
Also, as a note, which I need to note more, these are my observations, my notes, my interpretations, they are not ordained, and they are not infallible. These are just devotional notes, which I write, to share with those who maybe haven’t had the teaching I was blessed to have, but also to bring Glory to God, that He might use them as He wishes, to help draw others to Him.
If you are ever confused about something I write, or you think I’m totally off the mark completely, please write a comment. I will always reconsider my position based upon scripture and wise council.
